IB schools in Belgrade
Every authorised IB World School in the city, which programmes each one runs, and how to check an IB claim against the register yourself.

Four schools in Belgrade appear on the International Baccalaureate's own register of IB World Schools. The International School of Belgrade and Ruđer Bošković run the full continuum — Primary Years, Middle Years and Diploma. Gimnazija Crnjanski runs the Diploma only, authorised in 2006. Deseta gimnazija Mihajlo Pupin in New Belgrade is a state school authorised for the Diploma — worth knowing about, because no directory lists it alongside the private schools. Those four are the schools the IB's own register returns for Belgrade.

What to check before you choose
How to check an IB claim yourself
The IB publishes its own register of authorised schools, and it is the only source worth using. Search it by country and you get six results for Serbia: the four Belgrade schools above, plus Gimnazija Svetozar Marković in Niš and Gimnazija Jovan Jovanović Zmaj in Novi Sad — which are sometimes listed alongside Belgrade schools in error.
Two Belgrade schools describe themselves in ways that can read as an IB claim. Chartwell says its approach is "similar to the International Baccalaureate approach" — a description of teaching style rather than an authorisation; Chartwell students sit IGCSE and A Level. International School Savremena states on its own site that it is IB World School no. 062142; when we searched the IB register on 24 August 2026 that number did not resolve and the school did not appear in the results for Serbia. We have not yet put this to the school; when we do, its answer will appear here with the date we asked. We make no claim about why the register and the site differ.
Continuum or Diploma only?
This matters more than families expect. A school running the full continuum takes a child from age three to eighteen inside one framework. A Diploma-only school takes them for the last two years, which means arriving from a different system at sixteen — a real transition, and one worth asking both schools about. Only ISB and Ruđer Bošković offer the continuum here.

Which schools in Belgrade offer the IB?
Four are on the IB's own register: the International School of Belgrade and Ruđer Bošković (both the full continuum — PYP, MYP and Diploma), Gimnazija Crnjanski (Diploma only) and Deseta gimnazija Mihajlo Pupin, a state school in New Belgrade authorised for the Diploma.
Is there a state school in Belgrade offering the IB Diploma?
Yes. Deseta gimnazija Mihajlo Pupin in New Belgrade is a state school authorised for the IB Diploma Programme, with IB classes capped at 20 and entry by first- and second-year grades plus an entrance examination. It publishes nothing about whether the IB stream carries a charge, so we cannot say what it costs — but no international-school directory lists it at all, which means most families comparing IB options never hear it exists.
Can my child join the IB Diploma partway through?
The Diploma is a two-year course and joining after it has started is rarely practical. Joining at the start of the two years from a different system is normal and all four schools do it, but ask specifically what preparation they provide — moving into the Diploma from a national curriculum is a bigger step than moving into it from the MYP.
