Who writes The Bridge
A student-led magazine and guide to international schools in Belgrade, written by people who are actually in these schools.
The Bridge is written and edited by students at Belgrade's international schools. It was founded by Eva, who edits it. That is the whole basis of what this site is for: every other guide to schools in this city is written at a distance, from directories and press releases. This one is written from inside.
The people
Eva — Founder and Editor-in-Chief
Eva founded The Bridge and edits every issue. She is a student at an international school in Belgrade, which is where the idea came from: there was no publication written by the people actually living the thing every guide describes from outside. She writes the founder's note in each edition and is responsible for everything published here.
Writers
The magazine is written by students across Belgrade's international schools. We are building that group now — if you are a student at one of these schools and you want to write, get in touch. You do not need experience. You need to be at one of these schools and to care about getting things right.
How we check things
Everything in this guide comes from what schools publish on their own sites and from public registers — the IB's school finder, the UK register of British Schools Overseas, the French Ministry's homologation record. Where we quote a figure or a policy, we link the page we took it from and give the date we read it.
We have not yet contacted the schools directly. That is the next piece of work, and it is why several pages end with open questions. When a school answers, its answer goes on its page with the date we asked.
Where a school does not publish something, we write “not published” rather than estimating — a number with no source behind it is worse than no number, and most of the wrong figures circulating about Belgrade schools began as somebody's guess or somebody's currency conversion.
Where a school states something and we have not checked it against the relevant register, we label it not checked. That means exactly what it says: an unchecked box, not a doubt. Where we have searched a register and not found something, we say that instead, with the date of the search — those are different claims and we do not blur them.
Corrections
If something here is wrong or out of date, tell us. We will fix it and note when we did — for schools that work with us and schools that do not, in exactly the same way. Our policy on working with schools sets out what a school can and cannot buy, and what is never for sale.
