School profile

British International School Belgrade

The school describes its final two years two different ways on its own site. Its Upper Secondary page states that “students not following the Cambridge programme would be entered for the University of Nebraska curriculum in Years 12 and 13”, and lists subjects including American History, American Government, Career Planning and Personal Finance. Its homepage description calls the same thing an “American High School Diploma”. The two are not the same claim, and we have not yet asked the school which it means – so we name the University of Nebraska curriculum, which is the wording on the page that describes the programme.

The .org.rs domain has no DNS record. The live site is .org.uk. Email uses bis.edu.rs.

Founded as The International High School, Belgrade. Relocated 2003 and expanded into primary. The UK register's 'opening date' of 14 May 2025 is the BSO registration date, not the founding.

The school's own homepage gives 3-18 in its page description, and its 2025 British Schools Overseas inspection report gives the same range. Its youngest stage is the Infant School. Source: the school's own page, read 25 August 2026.

From the 2025 inspection report the school hosts on its own site. The report also records that English is an additional language for almost all pupils.

Where it is

The school runs a bus service.

Before school age

BIS takes children from 3 into its Infant School. The school's homepage and its 2025 inspection report both give 3-18; the youngest stage is the Infant School.

It appears alongside the standalone kindergartens on our kindergartens and preschools page, which is the one place in this guide where both kinds of answer sit together.

After school

BIS publishes 33 activities on its own site – pottery, cooking, capoeira, cricket, volleyball, football, ballet, film animation… Their page is the current list; ours is dated.

These sit alongside the city's own clubs on our after-school activities page, which is the only place the two are listed together.

What the fee covers

BIS does not publish its fees. Tuition fees are provided to individual parents electronically or during the Admissions Conference.

Inside the fee. Teaching and extracurricular activities; Books and instructional materials; Examination fees; Report and certificate issuance; Single-day curriculum-related field trips; ESL support at no extra charge.

Billed on top. School transport; Lunch (external caterer); After-school activities; The annual study tour; Uniform.

Discounts. Sibling: 10% off for the second child and each additional sibling.

Uniform. Mandatory for Infant, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. Secondary has a casual dress code. Uniform is bought from the school office at what the school calls minimum extra cost.

Getting in

By admissions conference – the school meets the family first.

Deadlines. None published.

Testing. No entrance examination is described.

Documents. Application form, official reports from previous schools, Student Reference Form, immunisation certificate, passport or birth certificate copy.

Process. Book an Admissions Conference, then submit documents, then a family introduction to curriculum and policies.

Special educational needs

Individual education plans are in place for all pupils identified with special educational needs. The 2025 inspection recorded 32 such pupils, and noted that monitoring in the primary school is close and consistent while use of the plans in secondary teachers' planning is less consistent.

What stands out

What we are still checking

A directory publishes an annual tuition range for BIS on a profile the school does not manage, with no academic year stated. The school's own position is that fees are given to families directly, so we do not reproduce that range.

Open questions we could not settle from the school's own published pages. We have not yet put these questions to the schools. When we do, the answers will appear here with the date we asked.

Know the answer to any of these, or spot something wrong? Write to hello@thebridgebelgrade.com and we will correct the page and note when we did.
