Deutsche Schule Belgrad is in Senjak and teaches ages 3-18. It follows the German curriculum, leading to the Deutsches Internationales Abitur and the Mittlerer Schulabschluss. Teaching is in German. The school's own site describes its Kindergarten as covering “Vom 3. bis zum 6. Lebensjahr” – from the third to the sixth year of life. German Kindergarten is a structured preschool stage of the German system, and entry to it for a non-native German speaker is the route the school describes into Vorschule and Grade 1. Before school age
DSB takes children from 3 into its Kindergarten. The school's own site describes its Kindergarten as covering “Vom 3. bis zum 6. Lebensjahr”.

After school
DSB publishes twenty activities on its own site – juggling, outdoor movement, chess, football, reading, yoga and pilates, school newspaper, folklore… Their page is the current list; ours is dated.

What the fee covers
DSB publishes a full fee schedule by year group. We do not reproduce fee figures; the school's own page is the source, so what follows is the structure of the cost rather than the amounts.
Billed over 10 months; July and August excluded.
Inside the fee. Textbooks and materials.
Billed on top. Lunch (invoiced separately by the caterer); Field trips and excursions; Optional summer care.
One-off charges. Registration, Kindergarten / Vorschule; Registration, Grundschule; Registration, Gymnasium.
Discounts. Sibling: 10% for the second child, 20% for the third and each further child.
Payment plans. Three instalments: 15 September, 1 November, 15 January.

Getting in
Conditional – entry depends on language competence as well as age.
Testing. German native speakers sit a school aptitude test around March/April. Non-native German speakers additionally sit a language assessment (Sprachfeststellung).
Age cut-off. Vorschule: fifth birthday by 31 July. Grundschule Grade 1: sixth birthday by 31 July.
Language conditions. Vorschule requires non-native German speakers to have completed at least one year of kindergarten. Grade 1 requires at least two years of preschool (one kindergarten plus one Vorschule). Transfer students take a language test.
Documents. Interessentenbogen, birth certificate, prior school reports. Kindergarten children must be toilet-trained.
Nationality. No nationality bar. The gate is German language competence, not passport.
