German classes for children in Belgrade

Where a child can learn German, and who says what age they take. Everything here is from each provider's own page, with the date we read it. No prices, no timetables.

Updated September 2026 · providers' own pages read 8 September 2026, for the 2026/27 season

Nine providers in Belgrade publish, on a page of their own, that they teach German to children. One of the international schools in this guide also runs it itself — BIS — which is the half of the picture no activity directory carries.

Not one of these nine states a language of instruction on its own site, so there is no column for it. What that means, and what to ask instead.

We do not publish prices, timetables or term dates for any of these, even where the provider publishes them. They change every term, and an out-of-date class time is worse than none at all. Every row links to the provider's own page, which is where the current schedule lives.

Taken from each school's own activities page. A school is absent from this table either because it names nothing in this category or because it publishes no list at all — which schools publish one is set out on the index.

What this page does not tell you

Three things, deliberately. What it costs — the same rule the rest of this guide follows, and for the same reason: a price we copied in September is a wrong price by spring. When the classes are — timetables are rebuilt every term. Whether there is a place free — only the provider knows, and only today.

What we can tell you is that the provider exists, that they say they teach children, what ages they say they take, and where. That is the part that stays true long enough to be worth writing down.

Questions families ask

At what age can a child start German in Belgrade?

Four is the published floor, and nothing here goes below it. Two schools start at four, one at four and a half, the German state institute at five, and two others at six and seven. Several of the same schools run English from three — German simply is not published for that age by anyone on this page.

Which of these actually specialise in German?

Four of the nine. Two are state cultural institutes — the Goethe-Institut and the Österreich Institut — and two are German-only schools. The remaining five are general language schools teaching German alongside several other languages, and at one of them the children's German is named only on a shared children's-courses page, with no German page of its own.

Can a child learn German online here?

Two of the nine publish it on the children's page itself: the Goethe-Institut names online strands for its 9-12 and 13-18 bands, and one German-only school teaches over Zoom. Others advertise online teaching elsewhere on their sites without saying it is open to a child, so it cannot be counted.
