About

How we work with schools

What a school can and cannot buy from The Bridge, written down so that everyone — schools, families and our own writers — can hold us to it.

Placement in our guide is not for sale. Every international school in Belgrade has a profile here whether it works with us or not, and no payment changes what we write, where a school appears in a comparison, or how a fee is described. Schools can buy a profile they help us fill in, sponsorship of an issue, a clearly labelled piece of their own, and a place in our newsletter. That is the whole list.

The rules

What is never for sale

What a school can buy

Every school has a page

A guide that leaves schools out is not a guide, it is a storefront. So every international school in Belgrade has a profile here, built from public sources, whether or not it has ever spoken to us. A school that works with us gets a fuller page — more detail, its own photographs, its events — but not a better position and not a kinder description.

Where our facts come from

From what schools publish on their own sites, and from public registers. Where we quote a figure or a policy we link the page we took it from and give the date we read it. Where a school does not publish something, we write "not published" rather than estimating.

We have not yet contacted the schools directly — that work is still ahead of us, and it is why several pages carry open questions. A school's answer will always appear on its own page, with the date we asked.

Where a school states something and we have not checked it against the relevant register, we label it not checked — an unchecked box, not a doubt. Where we have searched a register and not found something, we say that instead, with the date. Those are different claims.

We do not convert currencies and present the result as a published fee. Most of the wrong numbers circulating about Belgrade schools started life as somebody's conversion.

Corrections

If something here is wrong or out of date, tell us. We will fix it and note when we did. That applies to schools that work with us and schools that do not, in exactly the same way.

Who writes this

The Bridge is written and edited by students at Belgrade's international schools. That is our one real advantage over every directory that covers this city from a distance — and it only works if what we publish is trusted. These rules exist to protect that, not as decoration.
